As stewards of our town’s progress, we recognize the importance of having a development code that aligns with our shared vision, values, and aspirations. This update is not just about rules and regulations – it’s about envisioning a town that meets the needs of current and future generations while preserving the unique character that makes our town so special.
The development code is a set of guidelines and regulations that govern how land is used and developed within our town. It covers everything from zoning and building standards to design guidelines and environmental considerations. By updating our development code, we can ensure that our town continues to be a great place to live, work, and play.
Our current development code was designed to meet the needs of a different era. The update will modernize regulations, allow us to address new challenges, embrace sustainable practices, enhance our public spaces, and encourage thoughtful and innovative design.
This Code is enacted to promote the public health, safety, and welfare; and to encourage the orderly and efficient development and use of land within the Town of Lakeview, consistent with the Town of Lakeview Comprehensive Plan and the following principles:
The revised code will be more accessible and user-friendly. Clear language, diagrams, and user-friendly formats will make it easier for residents, businesses, and developers to understand and follow the regulations.
