April 14, 2023, Lakeview, Oregon – The Lakeview Volunteer Fire Department in cooperation with the Oregon Department of Forestry and the US Forest Service will be conducting prescribed burns in Bullard Canyon between April 24th and May 5th, 2023.

The objectives of the burning are to reduce hazardous fuels and provide fire suppression and fire investigation training.  The reduction of hazardous fuel buildup can help reduce the occurrence of catastrophic wildfires and improve the safety of suppression operations for firefighters. This will also provide essential training to our frontline responders to help prepare for wildfire season.

Burning will be done in small units with a total acreage of approximately 60 acres.  Signs will be posted during active burning, please limit traffic on Bullard Canyon Road to help ensure the safety and operations of firefighters.

Specific dates and times for burning will be dependent on weather conditions.  No impacts on the Lakeview community are expected at this time.  For up-to-date information please visit our Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100076340173484 or our website at https://townoflakeview.org/fire-department/
