McDonald City Park Splash Pad Installation and Park Improvements
Lakeview, Oregon, March 15, 2022 – J.T. McDonald Children’s Park, also known as the “Kiddie Park”, will undergo upgrades and improvements thanks to the awarded $75,000 grant from the Oregon Parks and Recreation Local Government Grant Program. The “Kiddie Pool” will be upgraded to an interactive splash pad.
The Town of Lakeview has contracted the professional engineering of Adkins Consulting Engineering, LLP, an Oregon limited liability partnership d/b/a Adkins Engineering & Surveying, 1435 Esplanade Avenue, Klamath Falls, Oregon 97601.
Located at 629 S G Street, the McDonald City Park Splash Pad will be the first splash park in Lake County. The splash pad is free of charge for community usage. The 437-square-foot Splash Pad includes: a Billy Box Turtle Aqua Spout (a nature-themed Aqua Spout emits a water crown of gentle arching streams and is ideal for ages 2-5) and six different spray features with a variety of PSI levels to easily accommodate zones for toddlers to teens. No standing water provides additional safety for children, eliminating the need for lifeguards.
Funded by the Oregon Parks and Recreation Local Government Grant Program and the Town of Lakeview, the Splash Pad will create another destination and gathering spot for the community, attracting both visitors and residents of all ages, and cultivates an environment that promotes inclusive play, motor skill improvement, cognitive development, and socialization.
During the construction window, the Town’s Public Works and Special Projects Departments will be managing the upgrade as well as several notable enhancements throughout McDonald City Park, including replacing the shade structure and adding age-friendly benches, way-finding signage, and allocation of accessible parking spaces to allow for functional ADA compliance.
Project Timeline:
- February 2022 – Ordered splash park equipment from Northwest Playground Equipment, Inc
- June 22, 2022 – Estimated arrival of splash pad equipment
- Summer 2022 – Construction to begin
- Mid-Summer 2022 – Grand Opening celebration for the splash pad

Town of Lakeview (“Town”) Town is home to approximately 2,300 persons and is in Lake County, Oregon. Town is managed by a town manager. The town manager oversees the public works department, fire department, police department and town hall administration. The public works department over sees the town’s municipal utilities (water and wastewater) and transportation system (streets). The public works crew operates and maintains the public facilities and utilities that are provided by Town.
