Fremont-Winema National Forest to host National Public Lands Day Event

LAKEVIEW, OR, July 18, 2023 — Fremont-Winema National Forest and the Bureau of Land Management, Lakeview Field Office have partnered to celebrate the 30th National Public Lands Day on Saturday, September 23, 2023.

This event will involve maintaining and improving Crane Mountain National Recreation Trail #161, starting at the Rogger Meadow Trailhead. It is expected to last about 3 hours.

8:00 a.m. – Event volunteers will meet at the Lakeview Interagency Office, 1301 South G Street on the morning of the event (25 Sep 21) to carpool to the trailhead.
8:30 a.m – Registration and a safety briefing for the project will follow.
12:00 p.m. – Participants will receive a complimentary lunch.

Each participant will receive a National Public Lands Day t-shirt and a “fee-free” coupon good throughout the next year for admittance to one recreation site managed by the National Park Service, U.S. Forest Service, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, BLM, or Army Corps of Engineers. Participants should bring, for their personal safety and comfort: sweatshirt or medium weight jacket, layered shirts, long pants, sturdy shoes or boots, gloves, a hat with brim, and enough drinking water for themselves. Other related personal protective equipment will be provided by the Forest Service and BLM Recreation Departments.
